ARCH  315  HERITAGE CONSCIOUSNESS & CONSERVATION (3 0 3)  

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION/ OBJECTIVES

This course is intended for developing heritage consciousness amongst the students of architecture. ARCH315 is the introductory level course concerning the issues of heritage conservation and architectural restoration. In ARCH315 students are expected to be familiar with the conceps of heritage and heritage conservation, understand the meaning and importance of architectural heritage and learn about the conservation theory, techniques and architectural heritage conservation methods, which is essential for transferring the built heritage of the humanity to the future generations.

 

COURSE METHOD

ARCH315 generally comprises a series lectures on the topics concerning the concepts of culture, heritage and conservation. The students are given individual or group study subjects for as their projects by the instructor. The students are expected to present their individual or group studies as poster presentations.

 

COURSE GRADING

Mid-term exams : 40%

Final exam          : 40%        

Project                 : 20%

  

Attendance Requirement    :   70% (Min.)
